PCNC: Environmental stewardship, community building and respect

About

The mission of the Platte Clove Neighborhood Center (PCNC) is to provide a sound facility and programs that will enrich the lives of all of our mountain top community, neighbors and visitors through educational, social, cultural and environmental activities.

Fundraiser 2025 - REBUILD OUR FOUNDATION

Our beloved PCNC church needs your help - we need to shore up the foundation in order for us to open the doors once again in Summer 2026.

Events 2025 : Events

Lead by PCNC members. SIGN UP is required - see event descriptions and links below. All events are free of charge and are open to the community at large. Donations towards PCNC are welcome. For general preparedness and safety on hikes, refer to the NYS DEC’s Catskill Backcountry Info

Gateway to the Mountain Top

One of the goals of PCNC is to have the church building open to community and tourists alike for events and information on the area. We tested this idea this Summer by setting up and manning a permanent information kiosk and distributing a brochure introducing local history, making local hiking and business recommendations. Stop by if you see us on the lawn in the upcoming Fall week ends!

Hike and Mushroom Walk Series

We held a series of hikes and foraging events with our local mushroom expert, Susan Kukle. We marveled at the variety of tree mushrooms and enjoyed a wonderful walk in the woods.

Community Picnic 2025

The Platte Clove Picnic July 21, 2025

The first Platte Clove Picnic was held over twenty years ago on Dale Lane, at the home of Maryanne Farrell and her brother Joe.

This year, undaunted by the rain, our Platte Clove community opened the doors of the old church and pitched canopy tents outside. One was for the musicians, first a drum circle followed by a lively brass band made up of our Bruderhoff neighbors. One was for the buffet table, filled with food contributed by the community. Add a barbecue, lawn games, and a steady stream of visitors, and the stage was set for a fun afternoon. Highlights of the event included the unveiling of the book lending box built by Mario Meyers and the announcement of our fundraising campaign to put on a new roof.
